I guess since I joined the forum in Mar and rudely didn't introduce myself I'm like one of those geezers at parties who everyone thinks must be someone else's mate.
I'm Dom, I can't remember how I first got into Dodgy, or rather how I came across the first album. No-one else had heard of it at the time and they thought I bought it just because I used the word dodgy quite a lot! I didn't do gigs in those days 'cos the then missus didn't get out much so I missed out on the outdoors during the 90s. I loved Cold Tea straight away and the first album in total always takes me right back to 1994/5 when I was a little more part of the yoot an ting than I am now. Enjoyed the subsequent albums too so got hooked enough to be gutted when I heard about the split, and still some people I knew didn't know who the boys were. So Let Me Go Far and In A Room are still quintessentially classic 90s tracks and always worth a play no matter what the day and enjoyed being all cosmopolitan with Faisons Les Mieux. Maybe I'm just a ponce at heart, I'm 36 I can admit to it now!
In the last 10 years I have gone greyer and got middle-aged spread of almost sumo proportions! I also have responsibilities, two of them, ie little folk who eat all the food and parasitically sap your energy. The next generation of Dodgy fans is already well under way.
I like various other music, enjoying the renaissance of indie, s'like being young again, I am apparently more down wid da kids than the kids but this could be to do with my lowering centre of gravity. It'll pass the electronic retro a la Joy Division is already turning into more poppy stuff so we might have to live through retro Wham and stuff yet and then I can have a good moan about the good old days! I like Zeppelin, I like them a lot, I'm quite fanatical about them and no I did not bloody get tickets to the O2 and the bastards did it on my birthday to kick a man when he is down, I'm not bitter just best not to bring the subject up! Like shoegaze stuff Ride, MBV etc. African rock music, John Coltrane on a Sunday and Desmond Dekker on an August Bank Holiday. All sorts really, well when you get into your 30s if it sounds tidy who gives a toss about image?
Oh and I like Fulham, because someone has to and when you're born in Chelsea and not a right-wing nut job there isnt a lot of choice!
Did I mention I tend not to shut up when I'm on a roll? Sorry!
