Righto gang.. *rubs hands together in a Del Boy stylee*

Who is going up to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival? I've never been before but my pal Alice and I are selling her eldest son to a travelling funfair to pay for a hotel room and we're gonna take in a show or two.

In particular we'll be taking in Two Drummers Drumming featuring the multi-talented Mathew Priest (drummer, raconteur, bon vivant and swimwear model). Not sure if you'll have heard of him, he drums with a couple of bands, but probably none you'll have heard of.. Wink

Obviously any Dodgy fan worth his salt will do their darndest to support Math and check out one of the 21 shows he's doing with Maurice Bacon from the Love Affair (do I really have to sing "Everlasting Love" to you, so you'll know?), at Edinburgh's Bongo Club.

Be great if you could go, if you need any more information, giz a holler. Xx

Music Review: 2 Drummers Drumming
Fiona Shepherd

MUSIC, 2 DRUMMERS DRUMMING *** THE BONGO CLUB (VENUE 143) ALTHOUGH this show is listed in the music section of the Fringe programme, there is actually very little live music in it, which is bad news for fans of drum solos , but good news for normal, well-adjusted members of society. The two drummers in question are Maurice Bacon of Sixties beat combo The Love Affair, whose biggest hit Everlasting Love was promoted by a stunt which involved climbing the statue of Eros at Piccadilly and ended in tears and arrests, and Mathew Priest of Nineties indie pop trio Dodgy, whose hit Staying Out For The Summer was voted worst summer song of all time by The Observer.
This odd couple are your hosts for an easy-going, ramshackle but endearing hour of music industry anecdotes, drummer jokes canvassed on the streets of Edinburgh and at least four minutes of basic drumming tuition. They don't quite live up to their claim to be the Ronaldo and Beckham of the Fringe a (recent scientific study has equated a rigorous drumming session with the energy burned by top sportspeople), but they do manage to beat the drum for their somewhat maligned profession. They don't fully develop their concept of drummer playing cards, indicating their ultimate wish list of special guest Sticks(wo)men (which includes Karen Carpenter - good luck there, guys), but could they realistically top their footage of Animal from The Muppets, even if they did secure the attendance of Charlie Watts? Until 25 August. Today 4:30pm
